Our Public Gardens are at the Bainbridge Library in Geauga County

The gardens bring the community into our club. They are a link between the library and nature and offer a calm and restorative place for library visitors to explore.

Our Mission, carried out through the gardens

It is our mission to provide members with a unique gardening experience. This includes the study of herbs, the useful plants, in relation to gardening, cooking, physical and mental health, and fragrance.

We are attuned to the beauty, the horticulture, the history, and the folklore of plants.

Our environmental concerns include the migration of butterflies, the health of bees, and the science of gardening in a physically changing climatic world.

Our Vision, inviting visitors in

Our vision is to create a public space with a sense of welcoming beauty that will draw in visitors and entice them to linger, experiencing the scents of the herbs, the beauty of the flowers, and the shady respite of the tea house.  Our park-like setting will provide a needed space to be used for garden programs and tours and also for Library programs and storytimes.

Following the completion of the herb gardens, it is our vision to round out and connect our gardens with a storybook garden path sponsored by a local business. Stories will highlight local children’s authors and will be changed periodically.

Community Impact

The tea house has always been a place for people to stop and read, a mom to read to her kids, or Library staff to grab a quick break.  Every afternoon high school kids enjoy that space.  Our members say that they never are alone in the garden.  Most of the time people will make a comment or ask a garden question or just stop to touch an herb releasing its aroma.  That is what makes what we do worth every minute.

We enjoy our relationship with The Kenston Giving Garden Club.  This is an organization of enthusiastic Kenston High School student gardeners.  We will continue to help and learn from one another.
